1. What inspired you to work in film?

I have always been a movie lover.  Growing up, my parents would take me to the drive-in theater every Friday.  I’d stay up late watching horror movies on television where I’d obsess over the leading men.  The way a movie can effect you…make you laugh, make you shiver, turn you on…was something that intrigued me, and I wanted to be able to do that myself.  Plus, film is art, and it was the only real media that interested me.  At age eight, I discovered my mother’s old Super 8mm camera in the hall closet and using my cousins as actors, made my first film.  The fire was lit, and it became a life-long pursuit.

2. What does Pride mean to you, and do you have any advice for the next generation?
To me, Pride means Visibility. See us? We are here. Pride means Defiance. We will not stay hidden any more to make you feel better. Pride means Relief. Existence as an LGBTQ+ person can be stressful, but we are here and we have survived. And finally, Pride means Joy. It’s OUR time to just live and love and be happy…and to share that happiness with others.  Pride is the large group hug in the world.

3. What is your next project?
I am currently developing two new projects: THE CAT AND THE CANARY—a new version of the classic old dark house comedy-murder-mystery movie based on the classic 1922 play.  And BITE-SIZE—a horror film about three people shipwrecked on an island where they are attacked nightly by tiny creatures.
