NYC’s Patch News is shining a spotlight on the newly re-released This Thing of Ours, calling it “A Cult Mafia Classic, Sharpened for a New Era.”
Twenty years after its original home-video debut, Danny Provenzano’s gritty mafia drama returns in a Digitally Remastered HD edition with restored visuals, enhanced sound, and renewed impact. According to Patch, the upgraded presentation delivers a noticeably sharper and more immersive experience while preserving the raw, street-level authenticity that made the film a cult favorite.
Patch also praises the ensemble cast, noting standout performances from James Caan, Frank Vincent, and Vincent Pastore, which feel even more resonant in the remastered edition. The review underscores the film’s authenticity, pointing to its deep ties to the real-world underworld and the involvement of John “Sonny” Franzese as associate producer.
As Provenzano notes in the piece, “there’s still an appetite for this film after all these years,” a sentiment echoed by Breaking Glass Pictures CEO Richard Wolff: “Good things take time to come to fruition.”
