Known for its unapologetic tagline, “The Oscars Can Suck It!”, Award This! has become an annual industry staple with a clear mission: championing independent filmmakers and bringing attention to exceptional indie films available on DVD, VOD, and streaming platforms.

The Award This! nominees were selected from more than 2,000 indie films reviewed by Film Threat during 2024/2025, making this recognition especially meaningful.
🏆 About Award This!
Now in its seventh year, Film Threat’s Award This! ceremony will take place on Saturday, January 31st, 2026, at the Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, California. This year’s event will feature special presenters Justine Bateman, Zach Selwyn, Leah Knauer, and Drew Horton, followed by a legendary afterparty — and yes, there’s even an Award This! gift bag.
Award This! is also the only major film awards show open to the public, with a limited number of tickets available for purchase through the Frida Cinema. The ceremony will be available to watch on YouTube shortly after the awards are presented.
Official Award This! merchandise — including the iconic “The Oscars Can Suck It!” slogan — is available now via the Film Threat shop, just in time for Oscar season.
