Tim Kirkman – Pride Month Interview

1. What inspired you to be a filmmaker?

Filmmaker Ross McElwee inspired me to make films. His personal diary documentaries taught me about the expansive possibilities for telling stories with humor and heart.

2. What does Pride mean to you, and do you have any advice for the next generation?
Pride means claiming and re-claiming our dignity and our rights and our rightful place in the world and celebrating freedom of sexual expression in all of its beautiful permutations.

3. What is your next project?

I have a bunch of projects on deck, including two true stories about queer sex scandals and an adaptation of a novel by Silas House about an evangelical preacher who has a crisis of faith. I could      not be more excited about the work.
