Breaking Glass Pictures is proud to announce that we have acquired the U.S. distribution rights to Francesco Costabile’s powerful dark melodrama Familia, Italy’s official submission for Best International Feature Film at the 2026 Academy Awards. The exciting news was first announced today in Variety.
Familia blends psychological thriller, family drama, and sharp social commentary as it follows the harrowing journey of Luigi, a young man fighting to escape a toxic family legacy while being drawn into the dangerous world of extremist ideology. Based on Luigi Celeste’s autobiographical book It Won’t Be Like This Forever, the film explores cycles of domestic violence, inherited trauma, and the desperate search for redemption.
